The reality

Busy season hides the money problems

You pay twice at tax time

Shoebox receipts and a mixed personal account mean your tax preparer spends March fixing books before filing, and bills you for it.

You can't see which jobs make money

Revenue looks fine, but labor and drive time on small one-off calls often eat the profit. Without job costing, you keep saying yes to the wrong work.

Venmo pay becomes a January mess

Helpers paid by cash app still count. For 2026 payments, any contractor you pay $2,000 or more needs a 1099-NEC, and you need their W-9 on file.

Is this job actually making you money?

Most owners price by gut and by what the guy down the street charges. Plug in one real job and see what's left after crew time, drive time, materials and overhead, plus the price you'd need to hit your target margin.

Start from an example job, then change the numbers to your own:

On top of wages. Ask your insurer if unsure.
Insurance, phone, software, truck payments.

Why we do this

Your books get done while you're at dinner

Most owners we talk to do their books late at night or on Sunday, after a full day on job sites. We built SolBook so that time goes back to your family. You answer one text a week; we handle the rest.

SolBook was started in Missouri City by Div, who runs a service business himself and knows what it's like to do the books on Sunday night. The software does the tedious sorting, people check the work, and you get your evenings back.

FAQ

Straight answers

Are you a CPA firm?

No. We're a bookkeeping service. We keep your books, reports and contractor records, and we work alongside your CPA or tax preparer. We don't prepare income tax returns or provide audit or review services.

How do you use AI with my financial data?

AI sorts and matches transactions; a bookkeeper reviews every month before it's closed. Bank access is read-only, every account uses multi-factor sign-in, and we follow a written information security plan.

Do I have to change my payroll or invoicing app?

No. We work with what you use now and match it to your books. If you're on spreadsheets, we set up QuickBooks Online or Xero for you.

I'm a year behind. Is that a problem?

It's common. The Catch-up Sprint rebuilds the missing months at $350 per month behind, done in 14 days, and you can split it into 3 payments.

Do you handle 1099s for my helpers?

We collect W-9s, track every contractor payment all year, and hand you or your tax preparer a ready-to-file 1099 list. For 2026 payments the filing threshold is $2,000 per contractor.

Can you work with me in Spanish?
